Can an AI social media manager post to Instagram automatically?
By Feedhand editorial teamPublished
Yes: Meta's official Instagram API lets an approved app publish images, carousels, Reels and stories to professional (business or creator) accounts, up to 100 API-published posts per 24 hours. The API covers professional accounts only, and TikTok's Content Posting API offers a similar Direct Post route, with posts from unaudited apps restricted to private viewing. Feedhand does not post automatically yet: auto-posting is coming soon, and today it prepares a ready, full-resolution package that you approve and share in one tap.
The concrete numbers
- 100 API-published posts per account in a moving 24-hour window, per Meta's Content Publishing guide; its carousel section says 50, so plan for the lower figure.
- 1: a carousel counts as one post toward that limit.
- Private only until audit: content posted by unaudited apps through the TikTok Content Posting API is restricted to private viewing.
- 2 official AI flags at upload: Meta's is_ai_generated adds the "AI info" label, TikTok's is_aigc adds "Creator labeled as AI-generated".
- 0 automatic Reddit posts from Feedhand: Reddit is always a manual package (copy the text, open the submit page).
Steps
- Feedhand prepares the post: media, caption, "why this post", the platform rules it follows and safety checks.
- You approve, edit or drop it on your phone.
- You tap share and post from the ready, full-resolution package.
- For Reddit, you copy the text and open the subreddit's submit page yourself.
Common follow-ups
Is auto-posting allowed by Instagram's rules?
Publishing through Meta's official Content Publishing API is the route Meta provides for it. Tools that drive the app or a browser on your behalf are not that API and put the account at risk.
Does a personal Instagram account work?
Not with the official API, which is built for professional accounts. Switching to a creator or business account in Instagram's settings is the usual first step for any scheduling tool.
When will Feedhand post automatically?
It is coming soon, and we have not announced a date. Until then, the one-tap package keeps the final share in your hands, which also means nothing goes out that you have not seen.
