Feedhand vs Buffer (2026): free scheduler or AI social media manager?
By Feedhand editorial teamPublished 6 min readComparisons
You are probably weighing a well-known, inexpensive scheduler against a newer product that does more of the work. This page compares the job each one does, the price, how publishing works and who should pick which. For background on the category, read what an AI social media manager actually does.
Disclosure: Feedhand publishes this page, so we are not neutral. Every fact about Buffer comes from Buffer's official site and help center, checked 27 Oct 2026; tell us at support@feedhand.com if something has changed and we will correct it.
What is the main difference between Feedhand and Buffer?
The main difference is who creates the posts: Buffer publishes what you write, while Feedhand plans and writes the month and you approve it. Buffer's core is scheduling, with an AI Assistant that, in Buffer's words, "helps you brainstorm ideas, rewrite content, and craft platform-specific posts", according to its AI Assistant page. The same page notes that posting and scheduling themselves are not AI features.
Feedhand starts from your website or app store link, the photos, menu or catalog you upload and what you tell it. It builds a "brand brain" (business model, audiences, voice), researches competitors and up to 5 target markets, then plans a month for Instagram, TikTok, X and Reddit and creates the videos, carousels, stories and text from your own product photos.
So Buffer is a tool that saves a person time. Feedhand is closer to a manager that drafts everything, while you keep the final decision on each post.
How do Feedhand and Buffer compare feature by feature?
Buffer covers far more networks and handles publishing, analytics and replies; Feedhand covers planning and content production. The table uses Buffer's pricing page, checked 27 Oct 2026.
| Feature | Buffer | Feedhand |
|---|---|---|
| Networks | LinkedIn, Threads, Pinterest, Bluesky, YouTube, X, Google Business Profile, Instagram, Substack, Mastodon, TikTok, Facebook | Instagram, TikTok, X, Reddit |
| Publishing | Scheduled, automatic publishing (with Instagram limits) | You approve, then share a ready package in one tap; auto-posting is coming soon |
| Who writes | You, with an AI Assistant | The AI writes the month; you edit or approve |
| Content production | Your own files | Videos, carousels, stories and images from your product photos |
| Analytics | Insights on the free plan, advanced analytics on Essentials | Learns from results you log (Growth plan) |
| Replies | Community inbox and AI replies | Not offered |
| Team | Unlimited members and approval workflows on Team | Client review link without login (Growth plan) |
Reddit is the one network Feedhand covers that Buffer's pricing page does not list, and even there Feedhand gives you a manual package (copy plus the submit page), not automatic posting.
How much do Feedhand and Buffer cost in 2026?
Buffer is much cheaper and has a real free plan; Feedhand starts at $99 a month. Buffer's pricing page prices paid plans per channel, and its FAQ says annual billing gives a 20% discount; both paid plans have a 14-day free trial.
| Buffer plan (checked 27 Oct 2026) | Price shown | What it adds |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0, up to 3 channels | 10 scheduled posts per channel, 1 user, AI Assistant |
| Essentials | $5 per channel a month, billed yearly ($60/year) | Unlimited scheduled posts, advanced analytics, community inbox |
| Team | $10 per channel a month, billed yearly ($120/year) | Unlimited team members, approval workflows, branded reports |
Feedhand prices are USD per month, 20% off yearly: Photo $99 (30 posts and 30 stories, no video), Starter $179 (adds 10 videos), Growth $499 (90 posts, 60 stories, 30 videos) and Pro $799 (150 posts, 90 stories, 50 videos, multiple brands). See the Feedhand pricing section.
A business with Instagram, TikTok and X on Buffer Essentials pays about $15 a month for the software. The difference to Feedhand is the cost of someone planning, shooting, editing and writing. If that someone is you and you enjoy it, Buffer wins. If you would otherwise pay a freelancer, compare the numbers in the real monthly cost of social media with AI.
Does Buffer post to Instagram automatically?
Yes, for most posts: Buffer publishes automatically to Instagram Business and Creator accounts, and falls back to a phone notification in some cases. Its help article on Instagram posting lists those cases: personal accounts, the "notifications by default" setting, media outside Instagram's aspect ratios, Reels shorter than 3 seconds or longer than 15 minutes, and features such as music or product tags.
Feedhand does not auto-post yet. It prepares each post, you approve on your phone, and you share a ready, full-resolution package in one tap. Auto-posting is marked "coming soon". Our short answer on whether AI can post to Instagram automatically covers the details.
Who is each one built for?
Buffer fits people who already produce content and want to publish it reliably and cheaply; Feedhand fits owners who have products and photos but no time to plan or create. Typical fits:
- A creator or small team posting on LinkedIn, Threads and Bluesky: Buffer.
- Anyone on a budget below $100 a month: Buffer.
- A team that needs approvals, a shared inbox and branded reports: Buffer Team.
- A shop, café or app with product photos and no content plan: Feedhand.
- A brand selling in two or more countries that needs each market written in its own language: Feedhand.

When Buffer is the better choice
Buffer is the better choice for a lot of small businesses, and here is when.
- You want to spend nothing. Buffer's free plan covers 3 channels; Feedhand has only a 2-day trial.
- You need LinkedIn, Facebook, Pinterest, Threads, YouTube, Bluesky, Mastodon, Substack or Google Business Profile. Feedhand supports none of them.
- You want posts to go live automatically today. Buffer publishes on schedule; Feedhand's auto-posting is not live yet.
- You need a community inbox, AI replies or analytics across all your channels.
- You have a team that needs approval workflows and access levels.
- You already like writing your own posts and only need a calendar.
- You value an established tool that many teams already know.
In those cases, choose Buffer. Feedhand only earns its higher price when the bottleneck is deciding what to post and producing it.

Frequently asked questions
Is Buffer free?
Buffer has a free plan for up to 3 channels with 10 scheduled posts per channel and 1 user, according to its pricing page checked 27 Oct 2026. Paid plans are priced per channel. Feedhand has no free plan, only a 2-day trial with 3 posts.
Is Feedhand a Buffer alternative?
Only partly. Buffer replaces a calendar and a publishing routine; Feedhand replaces the planning and content creation and still needs you to share each post. Many owners would be better served by Buffer if they already have content.
Can I use Buffer and Feedhand together?
Yes. You could let Feedhand plan and create the month, then schedule the approved files in Buffer, especially for networks Feedhand does not cover. That is two subscriptions, so it only makes sense if both jobs matter.
Does Feedhand support LinkedIn?
No. Feedhand covers Instagram, TikTok, X and Reddit, with Reddit always as a manual package. For LinkedIn, Buffer or another scheduler is the right tool.
